Fun times with Scratch in Year 9
Miss Curran’s Year 9 Entrepreneurial skills class recently created their own Etch a Sketch using Scratch which is a visual programming language. It can be accessed as a desktop and online multimedia authoring tool that can be used by students, teachers and parents to create games and provide a stepping stone to the more advanced world of computer programming.
Miss Curran is very proud of the effort her Year 9 class has put into this project. Using Scratch has enabled students to also use event driven programme with multiple active objects called sprites The girls previously had a lot of fun creating their sprites and programming them to change in terms of colour, size, movement etc. Sprites can be drawn—as either vector or bitmap graphics—from scratch in a simple editor that is part of the Scratch, or can be imported from external sources.
