COVID-19 (Coronavius) Update

13th Mar 2020

School Closures - COVID-19 (Coronavius)

To date, we have received no information from the Department of Education regarding school closures.

However, you need to be aware that staff in our school have uploaded their teaching resources onto ‘Google Classroom’ so that students can access the materials from home and send their work directly to their teachers.

GCSE and A Level students will be very familiar with using Google Classroom as the system has been in place for a number of years. Other teachers have provided examination students with past papers, revision booklets and paper copies of the materials they will be using in class. Teachers will be speaking to their classes regarding topics that they can work on from home.

I want to reassure you that in the event of school closure students have been provided with work to do at home. Students in Years 8-10 should also make use of their time to improve their literacy skills by reading novels. Years 11-14 have lots of work and revision to do for their upcoming modules, GCSEs, AS and A Level examinations.

Wednesday 18th March is a Staff Development Day and I am encouraging senior students to come in and work on coursework; they will have access to computers and a quiet space to prepare for their upcoming examinations. Students have permission to wear their ordinary clothes and they will need to bring a packed lunch.

When I have any more information I will keep you updated on our school web site, Facebook and school app.

As a school we want to thank all parents/guardians for their continued support.
