Geography Field Trip

Geography Field Trip

On a blustery December day, Year 11 pupils braved the elements to look at the coastal protection schemes in place in Newcastle. We saw how the old sea wall failed and how effective the new sea wall was in deflecting huge waves.

It was exciting to watch the protection schemes working on a very stormy day.  However when the waves were too large to be deflected fully and the waves topped the wall, the girls enjoyed running from the ensuing torrents.

The girls went home a little wetter, more tired and with a deeper appreciation of how our coast line can be protected.
