Message from our Principal

25th Mar 2020

25th March 2020

Dear Pupils and Parents,

It is hard to believe that we are now beginning Day 3 of ‘home schooling’. The past 2 days have seemed like an eternity in St Mary’s without any pupils! Your teachers are in constant communication with me. It is really important that you complete the work that they have given you to do; in order to make the progress that we know you are capable of making. It will be difficult at times to be self-disciplined and motivated; but we know that your families will support you and teachers are available with sound advice. Difficult as it might be, it is important to establish a work routine.

  • Year 11 students will have received their reports following their Mock Examinations earlier this month. There is lots of positive feedback and suggestions for improvement which I know you will act upon. If you have any queries, please contact your subject teachers.
  • Years 12, 13 & 14 students, I know that this is a particularly difficult time for you.       We have received no further communication from JCQ or CCEA, but rest assured we will keep you updated when the information is available.

I know that you will all be following the news on the different media platforms. Please follow the advice we have all been given to stay indoors and to stay safe. We all need to play our part. It is truly humbling to see staff from the health service who are members of your family and mine in the front line doing their best to save our lives. We need to support them.

Pope Francis has asked all Christians throughout the world to say the Our Father on Wednesday 25th March – the Feast of the Annunciation at 12.00 noon. I know that the girls of St Mary’s will want to join all those across the world to pray for those suffering from COVID -19 and for all the health care workers who are looking after the sick.

Girls, your teachers send you all their best wishes.

Kind regards,

Ms McLaughlin.
