Student Council Elections 2019

6th Nov 2019

Article 12 of The United Nations Convention, on the Rights of the Child, 1989 states that:

“Children should be given the opportunity to voice their opinions and to have those opinions taken into account on any issues relevant to them”

The School Council meets regularly and is made up of democratically elected pupils. One member is elected from each form class across all year groups, 8-14.

Today was a very significant day for the candidates who have been running their Student Council election campaigns.

Voting took place this morning to find the next representative for each form class.

Pictured are the Year 14 students, who along with Mrs Arkins and the pastoral team, are busy running the polling station. They also have to count the votes and verify the results before the candidates can take up their position.

The excitement is building and we look forward to the announcement of our new elected members.

Well done to all involved.
