Message from your Head of Year

Hello Ladies

I hope you have all been keeping well since the last time we were in school together.

It has been my pleasure to be your Head of Year over the past 5 years and watch you grow into the confident, considerate and articulate young ladies you are today.

We had planned to have an information morning where you could have the opportunity to speak to your teachers about your options Post 16. Unfortunately, we did not get the chance to do that. I know the choice of where to study and what to study are potentially the most significant decisions you will have to make so far in your life. Please take the time to read through all the information provided here so that you can make an informed choice.

St Mary's High School has an excellent record of successful A level results with our past pupils moving on to study a wide range of third level qualifications so I hope many of you decide to return to St Mary’s to continue your studies. Being in sixth form is very different to being in year 12. For a start you will have a different uniform, you will study fewer subjects and you will have your own space within the school but by far the biggest change is you will have increased responsibility for your own learning. This can be daunting and make the transition between GCSE and A Level difficult, but your teachers will make this transition as easy as possible. The teachers here know you well both as learners and as individuals and as a result they will know when to step in to give you a helping hand and when to give you time to build your independence. This help and guidance will be invaluable in helping you to achieve your full potential.

Good luck with your GCSE results, I look forward to seeing you all in August.

Miss J Beedim

Message from our Head Girl

As our current Year 14 make their way out of St. Mary's and onto new adventures , you will just be beginning that journey in September. It will, like Miss Beedim, said be very different. Just what it will be like for you is best described by someone who has just been through it. Our Head Girl has made a video message, just for you.

We hope this will give you some idea of what is up ahead!
