Ms R. Mc Laughlin

Dear Parents/Guardians,

I am delighted to welcome you to our school website. I hope it will provide you with an insight into the vibrant life in our school.  St Mary’s High School is an outstanding school steeped in a unique history and tradition with the Sisters of Mercy who established the school in 1957. The Mercy values of showing compassion for others are lived out on a daily basis in all aspects of school life. Our staff make every effort to ensure that we meet the spiritual, educational and personal needs of every child.  We provide a high quality education for every child, thereby ensuring every child experiences success.  Our pupils experience an academic and vocational curriculum that meets the needs of the 21st century learner.

Our pupils come from a wide range of primary schools across the Co Down area to become St Mary’s girls! Our school motto is ‘Every Child Matters’.  Every child is challenged to succeed in a very nurturing environment that permeates all aspects of life in our school. We expect our girls to develop a strong work ethic and a positive ‘Can do Attitude’ to meet the challenges that they will face in life.  We help them to develop a mindset to succeed and to be resilient.  We work with our pupils in an atmosphere of mutual respect.  We expect high standards in all aspects of school life; in terms of academic performance, music, sporting achievement, uniform and behaviour.

We want our girls to achieve their full potential in an atmosphere where they feel supported to succeed; and they leave as young women who can take up their roles in society.

If you require any further information about the school feel free to contact us at info@stmaryshs.downpatrick.ni.sch.uk
