Information from the Education Authority - Industrial Action

10th Nov 2023

The Education Authority (EA) has warned of expected disruption to some school services as a result of strike action notified by UNISON, UNITE the UNION, NIPSA and GMB. This strike action will commence with UNITE the UNION from Wednesday 15th November 2023. UNISON, UNITE the UNION, NIPSA and GMB will all take strike action on Thursday 16th November 2023.

The EA is working with schools, youth services and partners to minimise any disruption to children and young people caused by the strike action. However, due to the large number of staff anticipated to be involved in the planned action, we are expecting significant disruption, including to EA home to school transport (yellow bus), school meals and cleaning services.

The strike action will also have a major impact on the availability of Classroom Assistants in schools and may also impact on EA services to schools.

We encourage parents/carers to check the EA website for regular updates and details of any planned disruption here: www.eani.org.uk/industrialactionupdates - information is also available across EA social media channels.

Please also find attached the letter sent out to all students today.

St. Mary's High School is open, however students must bring in a packed lunch and break.
