In St. Mary’s High School, we aim to encourage our students to stay smart online and to ensure they know what to do if they are faced with harmful and/or abusive material. With the rise of the social media and the use of mobile devices the internet has become the cause of many of the incidents we deal with, here in school.

In St. Mary’s we want to;

• encourage our students to know how to stay safe in the digital world;
• furnish them with the tools they need to help to stay safe online
• promote the use of new technologies in a positive sense
• educate our students so that they know where to go if they are concerned of if things do get out of hand

We want to be able to:

• Provide age-appropriate, functional e-safety messages to each Key Stage through the pastoral programme and within subject areas, where appropriate
• Provide an environment of support for our students, from their peers and mentors, when they have e-safety issues/concerns
• Provide support for parents dealing with e-safety issues at home
• Provide support for our staff in the use of technology and social media, for both personal and professional purposes

We would encourage all parents of our students to make themselves familiar with the ThinkUKnow website, as it contains alot of very useful and relevant information.
